A Global PC Supplier

Toshiba starts today marketing of business desktop PCs to the U.K, Germany and France. This move follows its successful move into the U.S. desktop PC market. Building on the recognition achieved by its leadership in notebook PCs, Toshiba launched the home-use series of Infinia multimedia desktop PCs in the U.S. market in September 1996. It followed up in March 1997 with the Equium series for corporate customers. The company will now build on its new presence in Europe's three largest markets for business computers.

Toshiba shipped 2.7 million PCs worldwide in fiscal 1996, and it plans to ship 4 million units this fiscal year. The company is strengthening its capabilities as a global PC supplier. In this connection, it is promoting its international desktop business, still the largest segment of the global PC market, and further strengthening its leadership position in the worldwide notebook PC market.
