Toshiba Issues Revised Business Forecasts for FY2000

6 February, 2001

TOKYO --Toshiba Corporation today issued revised consolidated and non-consolidated business forecasts for the current fiscal year to March 31, 2001.

1. Consolidated and non-consolidated forecast

Today's announcement revises downwards the forecast that Toshiba issued with the announcement of its results for first half of fiscal year, on October 27, 2000. The key points are as in the table below.

(1)Consolidated, FY2000 (Apr. 1st, 2000 through Mar. 31, 2001)

(2)Non-consolidated forecast, FY2000 (Apr. 1st, 2000 through Mar. 31, 2001)

2. Reasons for revision

The revised forecast reflects lower shipments and price declines of PCs in the U.S. market in the latter half of the current fiscal year, the consequence of the US economic slowdown. Other factors include lower sales of Electronic Devices & Components, due to greater than expected price erosion in DRAMs, and weaker than expected demand for digital equipment, including cellular phones.
