Toshiba Opens Representative Office in Hanoi, Vietnam

Hanoi—Toshiba Corporation today reinforced its commitment to the fast growing Vietnamese market with the formal opening of Toshiba Asia Pacific Pte., Ltd. Hanoi Representative Office. The new office will promote Toshiba's social infrastructure business in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, providing key equipment for sustaining the country's high rate of economic growth.

Vietnam's recent annual growth rates of seven to eight percent are stimulating demand for enhanced infrastructure, including power stations, water and sewerage systems and railways. Toshiba's Hanoi Representative Office will cultivate business in these and other key areas of essential infrastructure.

Toshiba develops and delivers key social infrastructure for sustaining economic growth and development. The company is now promoting a strategic expansion in this area and seeking to build a global presence. The company sees Vietnam as a highly promising market, due to its commitment to economic growth and development.

Toshiba Group already has a strong presence in Vietnam, including manufacturing facilities for color TVs (Toshiba Vietnam Consumer Products Co., Ltd., in Ho Chi Minh City), refrigerators and washing machines (Toshiba (Vietnam) Home Appliances Co., Ltd., in Binh Duong Province) and operation and maintenance services for generating plant, machinery and electrical equipment (Nishishiba Vietnam Co., Ltd., in Haiphong).
