Toshiba Group 19th Environmental Exhibition

4 Feb, 2010

TOKYO—Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) today announced that it will showcase its latest environmental initiatives for the general public at the "19th Environmental Exhibition," to be held at the company's Tokyo headquarters on February 4 and 5. The wide-ranging exhibition introduces 100 environmentally conscious products and technologies, spotlights pro-environment activities, and seeks to raise understanding of Toshiba's efforts and achievements in environmental protection.

As one of the foremost eco-companies in the world, guided by the concept of being "a corporate citizen of planet Earth", Toshiba Group takes a positive approach to society and to contributing to the future of a sustainable Earth, with the aim of realizing a world in which all people live rich lifestyles in harmony with the Earth. Toshiba uses the Environment Exhibition to introduce its stakeholders to its pro-environmental activities and to deepen understanding of its environmental management. The exhibition was originally directed at Toshiba Group employees and business partners, and has been open to the general public since 2001.

This year's exhibition will be the first to feature Toshiba's policy on conserving biodiversity. Toshiba Group uses the LIME method to evaluate the environmental impacts of its products and business processes. Developed by Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, LIME has earned prominence for the breadth of its analysis, including adding an assessment of biodiversity into the evaluation of eco-impacts. Toshiba makes full use of LIME in framing its own approach to the environment.
