TOKYO-Toshiba Corporation (Tokyo: 6502) today announced that it will exhibit its latest products and technologies at CEATEC JAPAN 2014, Japan's largest combined advanced IT and electronics trade show, which will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba prefecture from October 7 to 11. This year, Toshiba will showcase essential products and technologies for achieving its vision of creating a safe, secure and comfortable society, the “Human Smart Community.”

Main exhibitions

1. Main Stage

On the main stage, the theme "Human Smart Community by lifenology" will crystallize the future that Toshiba envisions-a world where the company’s wide-ranging products and technologies offer people a better quality of life.

2. “Karada” Zone

The “Karada” Zone will spotlight healthcare products and services designed to help people lead healthy lives. These include a wristband fitness tracker that draws on Toshiba’s biosensor technology, and that can record physical activity and sleep patterns, in order to help users maintain and improve a healthy lifestyle; SilmeeTM, a vital signs sensor module that senses the heart’s activity, pulse and body temperature, in order to analyze the condition of the user’s autonomic nervous system and sleep, and thus helps to prevent disease; and a basal body thermometer with an app, which assists women in maintaining their health and beauty.

The zone will also feature a cloud-based in-home healthcare service for the elderly that provides content designed to help subscribers feel greater peace of mind, protect their health, find convenient information, and also have fun; RENECAT, a photocatalytic spray that has deodorant, antimicrobial and antiviral qualities under indoor lighting; and fresh lettuce grown at Toshiba’s new plant factory, which has just started production of germ-free vegetables.

3. “Kokoro” Zone

The “Kokoro” Zone will spotlight energy management appliances that work in tandem with a home energy management system (HEMS), plus new white goods and televisions. Visitors can also enjoy hands-on use of a new tablet equipped with an innovative touch pen that offers a writing experience just like that of writing with a pencil.

In the field of electronic devices, Toshiba will showcase versatile, high-performance products that use wireless technology to provide new user experiences, and will demonstrate application systems. Exhibits include TransferJetTM, a near-field communication technology; SeeQVaultTM, a next-generation content protection technology; semiconductor and storage products for Bluetooth® Smart applications with an NFC tag; and FlashAir TM, a wireless LAN SDHC memory card.

4. Environment Zone

The Environment Zone will showcase the full line-up of Toshiba’s SCiBTM secondary lithium-ion batteries and present Toshiba’s initiatives to promote hydrogen as a clean source of energy, towards realizing a “hydrogen society.”

5. New Concept Innovation

The main exhibit here is a glasses-like wearable device, Toshiba Glass. Visitors can try them out in different situations, such as watching sport or maintenance inspection.
