Toshiba to End Leaf Vegetable Production and Close Plant Factory

TOKYO— Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) today announced that it will close “Toshiba Clean Room Farm Yokosuka” in Yokosuka, Kanagawa prefecture and end production of lettuce and other leaf vegetables by the end of the year, in line with its policy of concentrating resources on focus businesses.
Toshiba will continue to support and market technologies for indoor plant factory, based on experience and know-how in lighting technology, temperature and humidity control and remote monitoring gained through production at the Toshiba Clean Room Farm Yokosuka.
