CSR Evaluation by Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes

Toshiba has been selected as a member of Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) of the world's approx. 300 sustainability leaders for the 13th consecutive year since 2000. (September 2012)
The DJSI is compiled by the cooperation of Dow Jones Indexes and SAM of Switzerland and seeks to promote socially responsible investment (SRI). DJSI World includes the top 10% of the sustainability leaders in each DJSI sector among the world's largest 2,500 companies, based on a thorough analysis of corporate economic, environmental and social performance. Toshiba is one among the four sustainability leaders (among 30 companies) selected in "DJSI World 2012" under the sector “Diversified Industrials.“

CSR Evaluation by SAM (Sustainable Asset Management)

Toshiba has been awarded ”SAM Silver Class” by SAM Sustainable Asset Management, a Swiss asset management company for sustainability investments. (February 2011)

Every year SAM awards ”Gold Class”, ”Silver Class” and ”Bronze Class” to companies with the strongest focus on sustainability based on economic, environmental and social performance as well as industry-specific criteria..

Oekom, a German research institute, rated Toshiba as “Prime” among 19 IT/Computers, Peripherals & Office Electronics companies in its June 2011 social responsibility ratings. (A separate window will open.)

Toshiba Home Appliances Corp. received Excellent Manual Award in the First Operation Manual Category for Washing machine installation manual, and received Outstanding Manual Award in the Second Usage Manual Category for refrigerator GR-D62F instruction manual, at the Japan Manual Contest 2011.

Toshiba Corp. received Fifth Kids Design Awards, Excellent Prize in the Universal Safety Category for seven items including the waterproof rechargeable radio TY-JR11 and electric kettles PHK-800R/800.

Diversity Management Selection 100

Toshiba was an award winner in Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's 2013 “Diversity Management Selection 100”.

Diversity management is a strategy under which enterprises conduct management so as to create innovation and generate value, by utilizing various human resources and providing them with opportunities where they are able to exercise their potential as much as possible. In Diversity Management Selection 100, enterprises that proactively make efforts to carry out diversity management are recognized as having a management capability that contributes to Japan's economic growth. The practices of award winning enterprises will be introduced as best practices to accelerate diversity activities in Japan.
