Toshiba Group participated in 6th Eco-products International Fair (EPIF)

[7 March, 2010]

Eco-products International Fair (EPIF) 2010 was held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from March 4 to 7. Toshiba Group showcased its environmental initiatives in a booth consisting of three zones corresponding to three themes: Vision & Action, presenting Environmental Vision 2050; Energy introducing hydroelectric, geothermal, and nuclear power generation; and Eco Products, featuring Toshiba Group's environmentally friendly products and systems across diverse fields, from social infrastructure systems to home appliances.

Launched in 2004 and held annually since, EPIF is Asia's largest international environmental exhibition. Every year a different country plays hosts, and previous exhibitions were held in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The latest environment-related technologies, materials, products, facilities, systems and services are showcased at EPIF. Participants include companies, government agencies, and industry associations, as it is a great opportunity for cultivating business ranging from national projects to B2B, and for effectively promoting branding strategies among consumers.

EPIF 2010 had 164 exhibitors, more than ever before including 36 companies from Japan. The number of visitors exceeded 90,000, up from about 83,500 for the previous year, indicating rising interest in the environment. Toshiba Group has been participating in EPIF since 2005.

The Toshiba booth consisted of three zones: Vision & Action, Energy, and Eco Products. Toshiba Group showcased its products currently marketed in Indonesia and those whose introduction is planned.

Toshiba Consumer Products Indonesia (TJP) and TJP's social contribution activities were introduced. Moreover, Toshiba outlined its clean development mechanism (CDM) project to recover biogas from wastewater treatment facilities, as means to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. Toshiba is implementing a CDM project in Vietnam and sees Indonesia as a promising market.

Energy

Toshiba's contributions to stable energy supply was introduced, centering on diverse power generation technologies that emit little CO2 when generating electricity, such as hydroelectric, nuclear, and geothermal power generation.

Eco Products

Toshiba Group's range of environmentally conscious products was presented. Showcased were B2C products, including LCD TVs, notebook PCs and home appliances, plus B2B products, including NAND flash memory, MFPs, and LED lighting.

At the Toshiba booth, both adults and children enjoyed eco quizzes and learned about Toshiba Group's environmental initiatives. On March 6, Toshiba held a special event featuring Luna Maya, an actress who is Toshiba's brand ambassador in Indonesia. The event consisted of a talk show in which Ms. Luna Maya shared her thoughts on protecting the environment, a quiz, and a photo shoot with her. This event attracted many visitors to the Toshiba booth.
