Considerations in the Preparation of Environmental Report and Website

Back to Environmental Report

Production of the Toshiba Group Environmental Report 2012 (English edition) and Environment Website (English) reflect the following environmental considerations:

Ensuring universal design in terms of color vision

This Environmental Report has been illustrated with well-designed charts, tables, figures, and pictures in order to ensure that the information it contains can be understood easily and accurately by as many people as possible. Because colors are perceived differently by different people, we used color combination sets recommended by Color Universal Design* so that the color combinations used in the Environmental Report can be perceived easily. We also devised ways of identifying the information in the Environmental Report without relying on colors when the report is printed in black and white.

*
These color combination sets, which have already been made pubic, were prepared in consideration of diverse color sensations by a group of four organizations (DIC Corporation, the Japan Paint Manufacturers Association, the Higher-Order Structure Formation Field of the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences of the University of Tokyo, and the Color Universal Design Organization). They conducted many experiments with test subjects in order to select colors that were relatively easy to discern by as many people as possible.
