All-weather Construction Method

All-weather Construction Method

All-weather Construction Method

All-weather construction was used at Unit No.6. A temporary roof on a steel framework covers the entire construction site, turning it into a fabrication shop. Access included a moving roof.

Monorails and overhead cranes installed inside this temporary structure were used to bring in and remove smaller equipment and materials. Large construction items, such as the RCCV liner, were brought in by opening the movable section in the center of the roof.

This construction method brings inside activities that used to be conducted outdoors, such as construction of buildings and the RCCV. It allows work to continue even in severe winter conditions and made a great contribution to shortening the overall construction period.
