Expanded Use of Equipment and Piping Modules

The volume of equipment, piping and supports in a nuclear power station is enormous, and so is the amount of fabrication usually done on site, most of it welding. With Unit No.6, Toshiba wanted to complete as much work as possible in advance of installation, so cutting down on time-intensive on-site work. The means to this lay in increased use of modules.
In addition to modules made up largely of pipes and supports, Toshiba developed modules bringing together high value-added equipment and cable conduits and instrumentation piping. These modules made a significant contribution to concurrent installation and construction.
