Preassemble Reactor Internals (RIN) at the Manufacturing Plant
With erection of the RPV completed; the critical stage of installing the reactor internals began. Every effort was made to prefabricate internals at the manufacturing facility, including internal pump casings, the core shroud, core plate and the emergency core cooling system piping.
Installation of the core plate, shroud head and steam dryer was then rehearsed, as the photograph illustrates. It shows the view from below as the core plate is introduced into the reactor. This dry run contributed to shortening the time taken for actual installation.
