Compensation and Benefits

General Information

Job Type Permanent full-time employee
Work Location Japan
(Toshiba In-house Companies, Corporate Staffs, and R&D Centers)
Working Hours Monday - Friday, 7 hours and 45 minutes a day.
(45 or 60min of lunch break, depending on the office.)
Holidays National holidays in Japan and additional company holidays (more than 20 days a year)
Starting Base Salary
  • Bachelor's degree → JPY 205,500/month~
  • Master's degree→ JPY 228,500/month~
  • Doctorate's (PhD) degree→ JPY 275,000/month~
Overtime Pay Overtime will be compensated. Overtime pay is payable for holidays, and regular working days when the employee is required to work more than 7 hours and 45minutes per day.
Incentive Bonus Twice a year (July and December), depending on company and individual performance
Allowances Commuting allowance (fully covered), housing allowance, child allowance, etc.
Annual Wage Increment Annual (April), depending on company and individual performance
Annual Paid Leaves
  • 1st year → 18 days/12 months (prorated based on date of hire)
  • 2nd year → 22 days
  • 3rd year onwards → 24 days
Medical and Dental Benefits Toshiba provides several comprehensive and cost-effective medical and dental plans. In principle, Toshiba Healthcare Association affords 70% of medical and dental expense, and employee affords the rest of the expense.
Benefit Program "TEATIME" Toshiba offers a "Cafeteria Plan" type of benefit program, called "TEATIME", that allows employees to select different benefits from a list of choices
Retirement Retirement allowance (payable at retirement), employees' pension program, Toshiba pension fund

Company Housing

Company dormitories located near the working place are available to single employees at reasonable rates. The studio type of room is air-conditioned and furnished with a bed, a unit bath, a closet, a desk and a chair.

For employees who have immediate families residing in Japan, Toshiba will assist him/ her find a property to let and the rent will be partly covered by the company.

Toshiba operates recreational facilities in many sightseeing areas that employees can use for resting and relaxing at a reasonable rate.

(1) Toshiba Science Museum
Toshiba Science Museum recalls Toshiba's past achievements and help to envision the contributions science and technology will make to society in the future.
(2) Toshiba Sports Teams(in Japanese)
Toshiba sponsors baseball, rugby and basketball teams. They have produced world-class players who have represented Japan in the Olympics and the Rugby World Cup.
(3) Other Cultural Activities

Toshiba Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO) is an amateur orchestra of Toshiba Group employees. The orchestra has performed all over Japan and in the United States, Europe and Malaysia, and is recognized as one of Japan's leading amateur orchestras. TPO performances make wonderful contributions to cultural interaction with local communities.
