I am a software engineer, and my main responsibility is developing card-type NAND controllers and verification of advanced semiconductors.
In my office, I have a supportive boss that cares about me, a mentor who always helps me when I have a problem, and colleagues who I can laugh with.

Cultural differences, like working culture, are always a challenge for me in Japan. The Japanese people are serious in their work, and they take fewer holidays than in my country. It was very difficult to blend into such culture at first. But by making friends with friendly colleagues who hear me out, and remembering that your family will always be there for you when you need them, eased my mind. Another way that I do is to play outdoor sports or go sightseeing.
Also, I faced some difficulty with Japanese language. It is hard to express your thought through another language that you are not familiar with. There are a few ways to overcome this difficulty; I overcome it by watching television programs and talking with Japanese to improve my skills.

On weekend, I like to get outside when the weather is clear--for example playing basketball with the other global recruits, going hiking around Yokohama and Tokyo’s mountains, and walking around the town. Japan is a very nice place for hiking since there are many mountains and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous.

Be confident, remember your goal and don’t give up. Everything that you experience here will be treasure in the future.
