I am working in the Railway Vehicle Systems Engineering Department. My division supplies locomotive and train-related equipment and machinery to domestic and overseas markets, such as Asia, Egypt, North and South America, Turkey and South Africa. I am in charge of the overseas market. My job relates to engineering and sales promotion, and I really enjoy both of them. Currently, I am studying technical things about railway systems and taking various training, ranging from basic company rules and regulations to more technical items.

My colleagues are completely different from the strict, serious people I imagined. They are really friendly and help me a lot in both life and work. Also, I luckily have one global recruit Philippine senior who is helping me get used to the working environment here.

The most difficult thing is the Japanese language. Even now, I still feel it is difficult to express my idea clearly and comfortably. Because of language barrier, I sometimes do not understand everything in the training provided in Japanese. However, I think this process is something that I need to overcome to be able to live and work in Japan.
My advice to you is that I recommend you to learn Japanese intensively if you want to adapt to the work environment here more quickly. Also, you should mentally prepare for being far away from your own family and your friends in your hometown. But I bet you will find a lot of fun here with Global Recruits and Japanese friends!

Toshiba is one of the most famous brands in the world and I feel it is an honor to work here. I think many of you also share the same idea as me. My advice for you is that you must believe in your ability and don’t be afraid of expressing your dream. I welcome you all to try to become members of the Toshiba family.
