Toshiba Solid-State Weather Radar is high accuracy, high sensitivity, and high resolution Dual Polarization Weather Radar with Full Solid-State transmitter.As an industry leading Radar and Semiconductor manufacturer, Toshiba developed SSPA(Solid-State Power Amplifier) based weather radar by fusing radar data processing technologies with advanced world-class semiconductor technologies. Toshiba's Solid-State Weather Radar combines high performance and high quality, to realize improved observation accuracy and low lifecycle costs.
Toshiba's up-to-date Solid-State Weather Radar realizes greater accuracy by transmitting long pulse with high quality dual polarization, which offers better accuracy compared with conventional radars such as Klystron radars. Due to its long pulse, the average power of 1 pulse produced by Solid-State radar provides higher sensitivity than conventional radars. By using pulse compression technique, range resolution is higher than conventional radars.
With Toshiba's experience of having many decades of manufacturing, social infrastructure, Toshiba will continue to contribute to maintain safety and security of society by manufacturing weather radar systems.

Toshiba is an industry-leading provider of Solid-State Weather Radars in S-band, C-band, X-band, made in Japan. We are proud to offer these new innovative products.
Radars except for weather observation purpose are already switched to Solid-State type, especially Air Traffic Control radar field, because of for less quality issues and less running costs. Periodical exchange of expensive electron tubes are no longer needed for Solid-State Weather Radar.
A new day has come where Solid-State type is adopted for weather radar. A transition from Klystron to Solid-State has already started in Japanese weather radar market, Toshiba already delivered 24 systems.

Delivery Record

  • From 1950‘s, Toshiba had started weather radar business.
    In 1976, Toshiba delivered the first weather radar for Radar Rain-gauge Network of The former Ministry of Construction (Current: Ministry of Land, Infrastructure Transport and Tourism).
  • Toshiba already delivered more than 80 weather radars, including more than 25 sets of Solid-State transmitter based weather radars.
  • Our major customers are Meteorological Agencies(MET Office), River management Authorities, Municipal government, Electric Power Companies and Research Institutes.
