Toshiba has developed the SiC devices which realize high-voltage, high-current, low-loss and high-frequency switching. SiC devices are applied for railway system components.

The compact Emergency-Running Battery System can be installed to existing trains.

Our system eliminates the need for an external depot power source to move a train within a depot, allows safer operation, and enhances train maintainability.

Environmental-friendliness and operational cost reduction are the benefits of Toshiba's Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). With this innovative technology, Toshiba is able to achieve a 97%* high efficiency rating for the PMSM.
On top of this, thanks to the original totally-enclosed structure of the PMSM, maintainability was significantly improved, and operational noise was reduced.
