activities markIn fiscal 2004, Social Contributions Coordinators were appointed at Toshiba Group companies and sites around the world to promote corporate citizenship activities of Toshiba Group. About 130 Social Contribution Coordinators in Japan and about 100 in overseas site are addressing issues in accordance with the specific needs in their regions.

citizenship.
Execution of Toshiba Group Corporate Citizenship Campaign and Issuing of an Activity Report
During a four-week period centered on July 1, Toshiba foundation day, Toshiba Group conducted a corporate citizenship campaign in Japan under a single campaign title, "Toshiba Group Social Contributions 2004 Committed to People, Committed to the Future," to strengthen the promotion of corporate citizenship activities throughout Toshiba Group.
During the campaign about 4,000 employees participated in wide-ranging activities, such as visiting the Komukai Toshiba Youth Innovation Club as instructors, visiting and cleaning nursing homes, making gymnasiums and sports facilities at factories available for the public, holding summer festivals together with local residents and tidying up river banks.
In fiscal 2004 Toshiba and major Toshiba Group companies were involved in the campaign. In fiscal 2005, the campaign will take place at all Toshiba Group sites worldwide.

Real Nature Camp "Explore the Forest"

Children at a shelter in Sri LankaToshiba Group companies around the world made cash donations and employees raised funds to help victims of the tsunami that struck countries around the Indian Ocean. The funds raised by Toshiba Group employees in Japan were donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society, Peace Winds Japan, JEN and ADRA Japan, all of which are members of the Japan PlatformNote1, to fund their activities supporting the recovery from the disaster. The voice of employees was reflected in the decision as to where the funds raised should be allocated. Employees received briefing from these organizations on the results and plans of their activities in the disaster-affected regions.

Cash donations to the Indian Ocean Tsunami and earthquake off the Coast of Sumatra Island
- Toshiba donated 24,000,000 yen through organizations and the embassies of countries affected by the disaster.
- Toshiba Group worldwide donated approximately 20,000,000 yen to the International Red Cross, etc.
- Employees of Toshiba Group worldwide donated contributions of 34,960,788 yen to the Japanese Red Cross Society, etc.
The Thai Toshiba Group responded quickly to the local rescue operations
As part of rescue efforts in the six states affected by the disaster in the southern part of Thailand, the five companies of the Thai Toshiba Group (Toshiba Thailand Co., Ltd., Toshiba Semiconductor (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Thai Toshiba Electric Industries Co., ltd., Toshiba Consumer Products (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Thai Toshiba Lighting Co., Ltd.) contributed 2.5 million baht, and their employees carried out a blood drive. Employees of the five companies provided free repair services for home appliances damaged by the disaster, volunteered to load relief supplies, and contributed a donation of 953,350 baht.

Contributed 86,100 baht to the Red Cross and temples in the form of cash donations for regions affected by the disaster, and donated PCs to school in the regions
A sports festival to cheer up the people of the island
To cheer up people on Little Andaman Island, who were disheartened by the disaster, ADRA Japan, one of the recipients of donations from employees, held an island-wide sports festival. Smiles returned to the faces of the people of the island during the sports festival, held over four days, which included soccer games and volleyball tournaments between refuge areas, and athletic meets between competing schools.
Niigata-Chuetsu Earthquake

Toshiba employees carry
in bottled drinking waterTo support victims of the Niigata-Chuetsu Earthquake, Toshiba made cash donations, provided drinking water, food and Toshiba products, such as washing machines.
Toshiba Group employees volunteered to load 20,000 1.5-liter bottles of water onto trucks, which were donated to Kawaguchi Town and Tokamachi City. Toshiba Group employees also raised funds to support recovery.
Cash donations and in-kind giving to the Niigata-Chuetsu Earthquake
- Toshiba Group donated 35 million yen to the Niigata Disaster Action Office.
- The amount of 22,507,512 yen contributed by Toshiba Group employees was donated to support victims.
- Toshiba Group provided relief supplies, such as food and drinking water, and also Toshiba products, to the regions affected by the disaster.
Receipt of an Award in China

Award ceremony in BeijingToshiba Group received the first corporate citizenship award from the Guangming Daily, a newspaper of the Chinese Communist Party. Activities in China were highly evaluated, including construction of Toshiba Hope Elementary Schools, tree planting, support during the SARS outbreak, and holding of a concert to which students were invited.
