Toshiba Group disaster relief efforts
Donations to provide aid to Sichuan province, China Earthquake Relief Effort
To help the victims of earthquake that hit the Sichuan area in May 2008, Toshiba Group donated 100 million yen in total to the Japanese Red Cross and China Youth Development Foundation(CYDF).
At CYDF, the donation was used for the construction of temporary classrooms so that children in the affected area can continue to receive education.
Also, contribution from employees and Toshiba products including cash, flashlights, batteries, liquid-crystal televisions, and lights were sent to the area.
Donations to provide aid to Myanmer Cyclone Relief Effort
In order to help the victims of the myanmar Cyclone in May 2008, Toshiba Group donated 10 million yen in total to the UN World Food Program (WFP), Association for Aid and Relief (AAR), Bridge Asia Japan (BAJ), and Japanese Red Cross. Also, a portable X-ray apparatus made by Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation was donated to the area.
Donations to provide aid to Iwate and Miyagi Nairiku Earthquake Relief Effort
For the victims of the Iwate Miyagi Nairiku Earthquake in June 2008, a total of 5 million yen was donated to the disaster countermeasures offices in Iwate and Miyagi prefectures.
