 Established in 1989 to promote international exchange and a better understanding of Japan, the Toshiba International Foundation offers global support for symposiums, seminars, culture and arts festivals, research and educational activities. From April 2008 to March 2009, approximately 160 million yen in total was donated to 100 projects around the world.

Mori Ogai Memorial Hall
The foundation provided financial and materiel support for the collection and cataloguing of research data at the Mori Ogai Memorial Hall in Berlin, Germany.
Support for Japanese studies
TIFO provided support for the "Toshiba Symposium," a series of lectures on modern Japan at Depauw University, Illinois.

Galung Foundation
The foundation provided support for the Galung Foundation, an NPO that provides Japanese language education to young people in Indonesia.
Support for international youth exchange
To facilitate mutual understanding between Japanese and Koreans, support was provided for an international exchange camp for Japanese and Korean high school students. |

Support for Japanese Studies
The foundation provided support for workshops for the teaching methodology of Japanese literature for the faculty of Japanese literature at Delhi University in India.
Support for Japanese Art Exhibition
Toshiba International Foundation (TIFO) supported "Kabuki Actors on Osaka Stage" exhibition at the British Museum. (June - Sept. 2005)
Support for a lecture series on Japanese Art
Since 2003, the foundation has been providing support for the holding of "Toshiba Lectures in Japanese Art" organized by the Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures in the U.K.

Support for summer programs in Japanese universities
Toshiba invited students from Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, the U.S., and other countries for summer programs on Japanese culture in Japanese universities.
Support for the production of national museum guides in foreign languages
Since 1991, the foundation has been providing support for the production of museum guides in foreign languages successively for national museums in Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara and Kyushu. |

Toshiba International Foundation (TIFO) donated teaching and learning materials to the Japanese- Khmer Friendship Language School in Cambodia for training of Japanese teachers and for students who wish to learn Japanese.

TIFO supports repair of Mazarin Chest
TIFO is supporting the conservation project of Mazarin Chest, a superb Japanese lacquer ware owned by the Victoria and Albert Museum in the UK. Japanese experts have been dispatched for a four-year period to transfer the conservation skills. |
International Symposium to celebrate TIFO's 15th anniversary
In September 2004, TIFO, in cooperation with Toshiba Corp., held an international symposium for young people titled "What will become of the world and yourself in 2015" to mark its 15th anniversary. |

Support for Symposia and Seminars related to Japan
TIFO sponsored a Japanese pop culture related symposium at University of Kansas in Nov. 2004 titled“In Godzillas Footsteps: Japanese Pop Icons on the Global Stage”. |
Donation of Japanese books
TIFO donated approximately 300 Japanese books to Toshiba Library in Dalian University Library in China. TIFO has continued to support promotion of Japanese language education and Japanese studies in China since 1989. |

A Production Technology Seminar was conducted for 20 member companies of the Federation of Thai Industries.Toshiba engineers gave lectures to provide knowledge on production technology. |

Support for Indonesian Association for Japanese Studies
As part of its efforts to promote international understanding, Toshiba provided support for a symposium held in July 2003 entitled "Examination of the Political, Economic, Social, Cultural, and Linguistic Relationship between Indonesia and Japan over Thirty Years (1970 to 2000)," More than 200 researchers, government officials, and journalists participated.

Support for Production of Art Museum Leaflets
Toshiba provides continuing support for the production of foreign-language leaflets for the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, the Tokyo National Museum, and the Nara National Museum. |
Support for Federation of Thai Industries
In October 2003, Toshiba Group dispatched three instructors to Thailand to conduct a Production Technology Course for business managers, factory managers, and production managers. |

The British Association for Japanese Studies
The British Association for Japanese Studies promotes research on Japan and fosters researchers in Great Britain. Each year Toshiba confers the Toshiba International Foundation Award to honor the most outstanding research paper published in the Association's Japan Forum publication. The recipient of the award for 2003 was Dr. Penny Francks of University of Leeds. |
