TOKYO— Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) today announced continued adjustment of production at its semiconductor plants for the first quarter of FY2009 (April to June, 2009). As a measure to improve the profitability of its semiconductor operation, the company has been implementing working hour adjustments and a leave system for employees in the business since February. For the period April to June, the adjustment will average approximately 6.8 days and it will be applied to some 19,200 employees of Toshiba and its Group companies in Japan.

Toshiba will continue to adjust production volume for NAND flash memory at its Yokkaichi Operations plant in Mie prefecture, Japan during the first quarter of FY2009 (April to June, 2009), and maintain the production level established in January (approximately minus 30%).

1. Overall

Toshiba has fully considered the overall situation and decided to take the measures as described below for employees in its semiconductor business.

(1) Headquarters: Working hours adjustment equivalent to six days of operations.
(2) Direct and indirect staff in factories in Japan: Working hours adjustment equivalent to five to ten days of operations.
Dates will be determined on the basis of the situation at each factory.

2. The situation in each factory

The following details Toshiba's fab operation schedules, including the leave system and adjusted working hours, at its main semiconductor fabrication facilities during the first quarter of FY2009.

3. Operation situation during the Golden Week

The following details Toshiba's fab operation schedules at its main semiconductor fabrication facilities during the Golden Week holiday (end of April to beginning of May).
