Toshiba to Demonstrate New Generation of Lighting at Milano Salone 2011

Toshiba returns to Milano Salone with LED lighting and for its first participation in Euroluce
8 Mar, 2011

Tokyo— Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) today announced its participation in the Fuori Salone during Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2011[1] in Milan, Italy, one of the world's premier exhibitions of furniture and interior design and now celebrating its 50th year. Toshiba will explore the theme of "Luce Tempo Luogo"[2] in a lighting installation at the Cortile di Via Savona in the Tortuna district of the city. Toshiba will also participate in Euroluce[3] in the main FIERA district, where it will showcase its full portfolio of LED lighting, including its latest Light engine.

This will mark Toshiba's third consecutive year of participation in Salone Internazionale del Mobile, which this year runs from April 12 to 17.

This year, Toshiba has teamed up DORELL.GHOTMEH.TANE / ARCHITECTS and Mr. Izumi Okayasu to create "Luce Tempo Luogo", an exhibition with three separate spaces the Entrance; Courtyard; and Inside. In the main space, the Inside, a darkened room, pulses of LED lights will play through curtains of water, creating effects and moods that can exist only at that time and in that place. Realized through the collaboration of an international team and harnessing multiple concepts, the exhibition will explore and demonstrate how new technologies create new value.

At Euroluce, the Salone's dedicated lighting exhibition, Toshiba will showcase its new LED light engine, which embodies the new GH76p cap developed with BJB, a leading manufacturer for lighting fittings in Germany. Designed to achieve 1600 lumens and 1100 lumens output in a 90mm by 42mm slim compact body, to support dimming, and available in three colour temperatures, this bright, easy-to-load, universal LED expands the creativity of designers to wider applications, including ceilings, down lights and garden lights.

For accenting applications, Toshiba has designed and enlarged its range of LED reflector lamps such as MR16, PAR20, PAR30 and PAR38. Retailers who so far used incandescent bulbs can now choose an energy efficient replacement from Toshiba's wide selection of bulb shaped LED lamps. Those include dimmable candle and spherical lamps as well as a new retrofit LED lamp with a 260 degrees beam angle.

Toshiba will exhibit in booth E31 in Hall 15, in Milan Fairgrounds, Rho.

Toshiba understands that lighting is much more than a means to brighten rooms and public spaces, and that LED lighting can do much more than contribute to saving energy. Light has an emotional power that creates atmosphere and enriches life. Toshiba celebrates this quality as akari, a Japanese concept that conveys the ability of lighting to appeal deeply to our senses and emotions.
