25 Jan, 2012

TOKYO—Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) today announced the latest status of the resumption of manufacturing at Toshiba Group facilities in Thailand, in the aftermath of the flooding that inundated the country last year, reporting that three companies have now resumed operation with one more set to do so.

The most recent return to production was at Toshiba Consumer Products (Thailand) Co., Ltd.’s factory in Bangkadi Industrial Park, which resumed production of washing machines on January 20. Initial production will be directed to meeting demand in the Thai market. Another facility at Bangkadi, that of Control Component Co., Ltd., will resume operation and production of components for home appliances on January 27.

Two other Toshiba Group companies secured an earlier return to operation. Thai Toshiba Electric Industries Co., Ltd., in Nonthaburi prefecture, restarted manufacture of its main products, refrigerators and microwave ovens, on November 7 last year, and Toshiba Hokuto Electronic Devices (Thailand) Co., Ltd, another facility in Bangkadi Industrial Park, resumed production of electronic components on January 3.
