Toshiba Corporation to showcase leading-edge technologies to CEATEC

TOKYO—Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) today announced the line-up of innovative products and technologies that it will bring to CEATEC, Japan's biggest electronics show. This year Toshiba will showcase essential technologies for realizing smart home and communities, along with its leading-edge digital products.

Toshiba will showcase the company's latest digital products, including a large-screen 84-inch Quad Full HD(4K) resolution TV, brand new Windows 8 Ultrabook, and  new cloud services that allows users to share content across multiple platforms.

CEATEC will run from October 2 to October 6 at Makuhari Messe and Toshiba will be at booth 5B91 in Hall 5.

Main Stage and the Community Zone

Toshiba is bringing digital and home appliance know-how to the creation of new solutions in energy management for the home and the community, and at CEATEC will demonstrate how its leading edge Home Energy Management System (HEMS) creates a smart home as an integral part of a future smart community. Toshiba offers smart solutions derived from its industry-leading expertise in energy management systems, along with innovative cloud-based solutions and smart home appliances for home, and energy management systems for buildings and communities.

  • Comfortable homes that integrate smart home appliances
  • Cloud-based solutions for such essential social infrastructure as healthcare and transportation
  • Energy control through visualization of Energy Usage in Community Energy Management System (CEMS) and Building Energy Management System (BEMS)
  • Utilization of photovoltaic generation system and rechargeable batteries for energy storage and electronic vehicles

Home Zone

  • A ECHONET Lite[1] compliant Home Area Network system service that measures and displays power consumption in the home

84-inch Quad Full HD resolution TV (for reference)

Toshiba's eye-grabbing 84-inch TV offers enhanced images with a Quad Full HD (4K) screen that displays images at four times (quadruple) Full HD resolution. The demonstration is powered by REGZA CEVO ENGINE 4K, Toshiba's new high-performance multi-processor platform.

REGZA Z7series, J7 series

Toshiba's new Japanese TV models, the Z7 series and J7 series will be showcased at CEATEC, ahead of their late October launch. Also on display will be the brand new Z7 series—the "time-shift machine"—that can record up to approx.40 hours, six terrestrial broadcasts and suggest programs to viewers based on their previous choices. The Z7 and J7 series both feature sleek, beautiful designs that have already won wide praise.

REGZA Cloud Services "TimeOn"

REGZA Cloud Services "TimeOn" is a new cloud-based service to enhance communication on social network services (SNS) about TV and visual contents.
"TimeOn" not only make people to contents connected, but also enhances people to people relation more active and fun. "TimeOn" service will be launched in late October, with the new Regza Z7 and J7 series as well as apps on tablets and smartphones to follow in November.

Windows 8 Ultrabook

Toshiba's sample display of pioneering 12.5" touch-screen Convertible Ultrabook running Windows 8, will be showcased.

Storage products

Toshiba's new external hard drives "CANVIO", which comes with the 500GB slim size and 2TB desktop size; and the 2.5-inch 1TB hybrid drive, that combines HDD and NAND-flash memories to bring new levels of high speed read and write performance to PCs, will be on display.

It defines controls for more than 80 appliances such as home appliances, smart meters and photovoltaic systems. It was recommended as a standard interface by the Japan Smart Community Alliance's Smart House Standardization Study Group in February 2012.
