Toshiba International Procurement Hong Kong - A Winner of 2012 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence

Hong Kong—Toshiba International Procurement Hong Kong Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502), today announced that it has been selected as a Gold Award winner  of the Sectoral Awards in the 2012 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE), widely recognized as one of the most prestigious and coveted environmental awards in Hong Kong.

Initiated in 2008, HKAEE covers four award schemes, one of the schemes is the Sectoral Awards. It recognizes organizations which demonstrated “overall outstanding environmental performance” in total 11 sectors. Gold, Silver and Bronze awards are granted to the top three companies in each sector annually. Toshiba International Procurement Hong Kong, Ltd. has won the 2012 Gold award in the “Import and Export Trades” sector.

Toshiba International Procurement Hong Kong, Ltd. has exerted its fullest efforts in environment preservation. It adopted various green measures to achieve “3R” (Reduce, Reuse, and Recyle) within the office, proactively communicated environmental messages with its partners, conducted thorough green management with its suppliers, continuously participated in a number of environmental programs e.g. Earth Hour, Power Smart Contest, Green Power Hike, etc. to support local green works, and organized various environmental education programs to its employees and their family members.

In the six years since the first awards, HKAEE has grown to become one of the Hong Kong’s most coveted environmental awards, and a strong incentive for companies to promote green management and innovation. This year, the Sectoral Awards attracted applications from over 700 companies.

Toshiba will further promote environmental activities while accelerating the pace of its expansion in the global market, aims to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by integrating business management and environmental management.
